Jesus is Worthy

Greetings, Friends of UPG!

I commend you for your desire to present the good news of the gospel to Unreached People Groups (UPG). You will be successful for the psalmist says in Psalm 103:5 that the Lord "satisfies your desires with good things."

Thirty-eight years ago I was introduced to the biblical truth that people groups are the focal point of the Great Commission. I have discovered this emphasis clearly set forth in Scripture from Genesis to Revelation.

Reaching unreached people groups has become the focus of my ministry. I have passionately pursued this objective. Two primary reasons have motivated and driven me to reach the unreached: obedience to the command of Christ in Matthew 28:19 and knowing that apart from faith in Jesus Christ unreached people groups will spend eternity in hell.

In recent months, I have come to recognize an even higher purpose for reaching the unreached that is clearly articulated in Revelation 5:9-12:

"And they (four living creatures and the 24 elders) sang a new song, saying: 'You are worthyto take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation...In a loud voice they (angels) were saying: 'Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!' "

JESUS IS WORTHY because He was killed by crucifixion and shed His blood as atonement for our sins. Because He was slain and turned away God's wrath with His blood, He is worthy to receive redeemed individuals from every tribe, language, people and nation.

JESUS IS WORTHY to receive our influence, our resources, our maturity and our energy for reaching the unreached. JESUS IS WORTHY to receive our respect and highest praise because He paid the price for our salvation.

I suggest that the primary reason for reaching unreached people groups with the gospel is that JESUS IS WORTHY. May we honor Him with trophies of His grace from every people group.
